Vogue Italia Pulls Image of Skinny Supermodel Karlie Kloss

Vogue Italia, the Bible of fashion, has taken the unprecedented step of pulling one of the images from its website.

This black and white image of supermodel Karlie Kloss by photographer Steven Meisel was removed from the site after pro-anorexia websites used it as "thinspiration."

The image features the 19-year-old supermodel wearing a pair of unbuttoned hot pants, her hipbone protruding out. According to the profile on her agency's website, Karlie is 5'11" and measures 32"-23"-34.5". Yes, you read that correctly; she has a 23" waist.

Franca Sozzani, Vogue Italia's editor, has been a vocal proponent against pro-anorexia sites, and even launched a petition against pro-ana sites on her blog.

"Vogue Italia, the magazine par excellence that deals with and promotes aesthetics and beauty, has decided to make use of its authority and its readers on the web (over one million of contacts per month), to battle against anorexia and collect signatures with the final goal of shutting such sites down," Franca posted.

Despite her public stance, as editor-in-chief, Franca likely approved this image in the first place.

Lynn S. Grefe, MA, President and CEO of the National Eating Disorders Association, is just happy the image is gone. “I think it’s great that [Vogue Italia] pulled it,” she said. “If they recognized that it was a bad image, that it was having a bad effect ... I’m sorry they put it up there in the first place, but good for them for pulling it.”

Karlie has defended her figure in previous interviews, attributing it to her sports and ballet background. Her agency, Next Models, issued this statement to toofab exclusively: "Karlie is a role model and trained hard for this shoot as an athlete and the results show positive women taking control of their bodies and being strong and healthy."

After 17 seasons, you'd think the producers of "America's Next Top Model" would have their screening process down pat, especially in an "All-Star" cycle featuring previous contestants.

Somehow, something in Angelea Preston's life disqualified her in the final round of the competition, leaving only Lisa D'Amato and Allison Harvard vying for the title (speculation is that Angelea leaked information before the show aired, a violation of the rules, but no explanation was given by the judges).

"After production wrapped on the current cycle of "America's Next Top Model," we learned information that made Angelea ineligible and she was subsequently disqualified from the competition," the CW said in a statement following the episode. "As a result, new scenes were filmed to address this for the audience during the finale."

At 30, Lisa is well-past the age that most models find success. Throughout the season, she demonstrated a range of talents, from singing to acting to of course, modeling.

She beat Allison, a doe-eyed beauty with a quirky personality. Lisa wins a contract with CoverGirl, a correspondent position with "Extra," a spread in Vogue Italia and cover of Beauty in Vogue, and a campaign with Express.

Angelea's mysterious disqualification -- a first for the show -- will surely raise questions, especially following former judge Janice Dickinson's claims that the competition is rigged. Toofab was the first media outlet to report that story. Janice asserts that CoverGirl, not the judges, pick the final winner. Neither creator/producer Tyra Banks or The CW had comment on our story.

Filming for cycle 18 is already underway, with new judge Kelly Cutrone replacing Andre Leon Talley.

Lauren Scruggs Tragedy

Lauren Scruggs' recovery from losing her left hand and damaging her face after walking into the propeller of a small plane is progressing quickly, so much so that she's walking with the help of a physical therapist.

The model and fashion blogger walked down a hall on Wednesday at the Dallas hospital where she is being treated, according to her family. Halfway through her first walk since she was struck by the propeller Saturday night, Scruggs said the number 30. When her parents and twin sister asked what she meant, the 23-year-old said "steps." She had been counting the whole time.

Scruggs had just landed with a girlfriend after viewing Christmas lights from above in a small prop plane piloted by a family friend. Peter Wasserman and Luke Dixon are the two paramedics who responded to treat her after the accident that severed her hand and sliced the left side of her face and shoulder when she walked into the propeller.

"I could hear her as soon as I got out of the ambulance, so I was thinking maybe not that bad. ... I mean, hey, she's awake," Wasserman said. "Then we got over there and saw the extent of her injuries. It was one of those things that kind of just takes your breath away."

In light of the issue’s recent photo leaks, which go beyond just the cover picture, Playboy has decided to push up the magazine’s release date.

E! News reported Hugh Hefner tweeted the news Friday, writing, “Because of the interest & the Internet leak, we're releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early.”

However, he’s not too distressed about the leak, predicting the issue will still sell because it is "a true Collector's Edition."

According to Access Hollywood, ten more photos from the 25-year-old’s shoot have hit the web.

The pictures feature Lindsay looking very much like Marilyn Monroe and even emulating the late actress’s iconic Playboy photo, where she is posing in front of a curtain.

In fact, the Some Like It Hot star served as somewhat of an inspiration for Lindsay.

“Sex and sexuality are a part of nature, and I go along with nature,” Lindsay reportedly told Playboy in an interview. “I think Marilyn Monroe said that, and I agree with her.”

The actress was also asked if there was anything she’s learned since being in and out of court and jail.

“That ultimately we are each responsible for ourselves and for our actions,” she said.

“Looking back, I probably would have listened to and taken more advice from the people I admire and would have followed through with it more, but my stubbornness at 18 and 19 got in the way.”

The actress, who was reportedly paid nearly $1 million for the magazine spread, appears on the cover seated on a bright red Playboy bunny chair, only just protecting her modesty.

"Because of the interest & the internet leak, we're releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early," Hefner said on Twitter, adding: "Lindsay Lohan was the top search name on the internet yesterday.

"Hot. Hot. Hot," tweeted Hefner, announcing that the next issue of the magazine will come out next week.

The leaked pictures show the curvy actress channeling Marilyn Monroe, flirting with the camera in a series of soft porn-style poses lying, kneeling or stretching herself voluptuously against red velvet drapery.

The actress had wanted $1 million for the Playboy spread and balked at an initial offer of $750,000 -- but Hefner eventually made an offer near enough to $1 million to entice her, celebrity news website TMZ reported.

Lohan -- once the promising child star of hit Disney movies "The Parent Trap" and "Freaky Friday" -- has a reputation for hard partying and has faced a series of legal tangles over the years.

Lohan was sentenced to 35 days of house detention in May as part of a plea bargain over the alleged theft of a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry shop near her home in Venice Beach.

Last month she spent five hours in prison after being sentenced to a 30-day stretch, for breaching probation on previous offences including a 2007 drug and drunk driving misdemeanor.
